Elsa C White is drawn to the places where a family's private mythology turns into something stranger. Caul of Ravens began as a single image, an Ouija board in the basement, and grew into a multigenerational story about a family's inherited magic and the costs that come with it.
The Memoir of the Crucible takes the opposite approach: no invented magic to soften the truth, just a direct account of what it meant to grow up inside one particular family, told plainly and without apology.
Before writing full time she worked as a comedian, a caregiver for people living with dementia, a hospice companion, a teacher, and an alcohol and drug counselor. Those years taught her a great deal about what people carry, and what they are finally ready to put down.
Elsa lives in Baker City, Oregon, and is currently at work on new fiction.

Won a regional Toastmasters prize for comedic, edgy humor, and worked as a comedian.
Caring for others
Worked as a caregiver for people with dementia and Alzheimer's, alongside hospice through end of life calls, and later as a teacher and an alcohol and drug counselor.
